Blue Balls, and a Kitty Cat ~~ Holiday decor at it's finest ~~

My office needed some TLC, so I quickly cleaned it up, and did what I do best, decorated with what I had on hand. I love my blue room, it's so refreshing, but it doesn't match any other room in the house. I would love to redo my whole home in a different color scheme, but for now, this is the only place I can add any blue, red, yellow, or green decor, and make it fun and bright.

This room, has these built in bookshelfs, which are awesome for storage, BUT one day I will show you, even there, I need to add shelves, or something, to utilize the space even better. The actual bookshelves, have only a fraction of our book collection. Nothing special, BUT, I still have all my old books, from growing up, and so does my husband. Every single outdated computer programming, coding, boring book there is, we got it. Most he has NEVER read, after buying it. All those are stored mostly up on the very top shelves. So anyway, I have my bookshelf filled with BOOKS, and dvds, and videos, and I tried really hard to make it look at least kind of cute. Not very easy, when you refuse to go buy anything.

Here is how my room looked BEFORE, and what it looks like AFTER. I finally went to the fabric store, and got some fabric, to redo my sofas, LOL very loud, because this is just something I think I can do, who knows  if I will actually be able to pull it off. Can't wait to show you guys all that, LATER....

Here is my Blue Balls, and Kitty Cat Christmas Decor

BLUE BALLS
KITTY CATS

BEFORE, yikes what a mess. That bottom cabinet is where I keep my Seasonal Decorations, and his room was the place to dump everything in the process. Time for a cleanup.

Closer look at the mess, OK.

What the heck, um yeah.....

Uh hugh,,, yeah.....

One more scary view,,, now behold,,, the NEW room.

This wall hanging, had rods, and lights in it, but I took all that off, so I could place it in here. I just didn't have anything else to fill in this space properly. I love this nook, but I don't have any grand bold pieces, for it. What to do???

Collected my daughters pets, and extended the picture on the wall, down. I love how cute it looks, my daughter was sad, she wanted her pets back, but somehow I bribed her, int leaving them on display, he he.

Bad, cats, playing with the ornaments and present, even puppy got in on the action, awwww.....

A little better, OK, A LOT....

More blue balls, LOVE IT.....

Ooopps, forgot to straighten up those couches, my son refused to let me move his dino collection, so no point in even trying. I love my poinsettia plants, hopefully this year I can keep them alive for much longer. I know you can grow these year after year, I will def try much harder this year.

My small Christmas set up, mismatched but somehow working, I love FREE.....

I know it's still cluttered, but hey, remember those before pics, this is WAY better. Besides, where would I keep all this stuff, if not on the bookshelf???

See my red apples everywhere, I love those things.
So what do you think?
It's better right?
I would love to get any ideas, or suggestions on what to do with the drawer fronts, I like the clean look, of having them all white, BUT, I think I want a little something.

Also how do you decorate your bookshleves, when you have a BUNCH of not so good looking books, that need a home. Give me some advice PLEASE.....

Oh and one last thing, you saw my couches, would you guys even attemp at trying to redo them???

As always ENJOY!

Special requests, or mad love always welcome:)

  1. It looks really good! I have a room like that and unfortunetly it is my kitchen! Everything gets dumped there and left...it is irritating! I think in the next two weeks I will be doing ALOT of organizing!! I love your displays and the kitties are so cute!! The blue balls that you hung are so festive!!

    Enjoy your weekend!!

  5. I AM YOUR NEWEST FOLLOWER. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
I LOVE THOSE BLUE ORNAMENTS HANGING AGAINST YOUR WHITE CURTAINS...IT IS STUNNING. I AM A PINK AND PURPLE GIRL BUT FELL IN LOVE WITH YOUR ROOM. IT SEEMS TO BE A GENTLE, CALMING SPACE. I SAW A SHOW ON HGTV ONE TIME WHERE THEY ARRANGED ALL THE BOOKS BY THE SAME COLOR BINDING...IT WAS REALLY PRETTY AND YOU HAVE SOME BOOKS LYING DOWN WHICH IS SOMETHING THEY ALSO SUGGESTED.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING. I WOULD BE HONORED IF YOU JOINED MY BLOG.

  9. Love the ornaments in front of the windows with the poinsetta plants, so beautiful! And the kiddo on the couch with his dinos is precious :). And for your question on the couches, there are slipcovers other there that are 'one size fits all' for less than $100. Though they tend to get pulled this way and that and have to be tucked in all the time. That is what we did for ours and with kiddos about I love that they can be taken off the couch and washed. Thanks for sharing these wonderful ideas with The Christmas Party!

My photo
In my spare time I enjoy cooking, and baking. In fact my mother and I have been making cakes for over 30 years. I also love gardening, traveling, and all things crafty. I struggle daily to keep my like organized, along with my never ending battle to keep the house clean. I adore my three kids MOST of the time, and can usually be found doing the mom thing from morning till night. I try to catch a few mommy moments, but those are hard to find in this wonderful life of mine. I am blessed and happy, and am thrilled you stopped by today :)
