GUEST POST ~ Three Mango Seeds ~ SHOWER CURTAIN Tutorial ~

When I posted THIS POST asking for help, and then sent an email to my blogfy friends, I never expected so many people to respond.I am blessed with wonderful friends, and I had a ton of ladies, who were more than willing to keep you all entertained while I get better, or get some sleep, or paint my garage, whatever, he he. The point is that I am SUPER lucky, super THANKFUL, and SUPER excited to introduce you all to Clydia from
I'm so happy to have Clydia here with us today. Pronounced Cly-duh, (after her grandpa). She is a super sweet mama, who I met through a blog party, of course. Her and her hubby, have been busy building their home, and started a blog to document all that, along with family life. They have three kiddos, that are sweet as can be, and the cutest little wiener dog named Marley. Clydia, loves all kids of diy, and has some incredible ideas, and projects that you should really go check out. Right about now, they are in the process of starting up some incredible raised flower beds, that I am so excited about. I can't wait to see how her garden turns out. So make sure to go say hello to her, and check out all the lovely things she has going on at her blog.

All righty girl, show us what you got!

Hi!  I'm Clydia from Three Mango Seeds and I am so excited to be guest posting here today!  Thank you Bella for the fab opportunity!  I can't wait to show ya'll what I've done to our daughters shower curtain!

This is it before...
The girls picked this out and love it!  The only problem I have with it is that standard shower curtains are so short!  Here is a little background info on their bathroom.  The girls have a Jack & Jill bathroom and the colors they chose were black/white & a soft turquoise.

Okay, back to the curtain...  I like to hang them pretty high which as you can see in the above picture leaves the curtain looking like we're expecting a flood.  {Although that seriously could happen in there!}

I had black fabric left over from ions ago just collecting dust and found that it would match perfectly to be my addition.  While the shower curtain was still hanging in place I measured how long the addition would need to be and added 2 inches.  {1 inch for the seam on bottom and 1 to attach it to the curtain}
After seeing all the ruffly goodness that's been around lately, I knew that ruffles were in order for the bottom of this curtain.  So, I started cutting 3 inch strips of fabric....lots of them since the curtain is so wide.

After I had all of these cut {I wound up using 8 strips that were I think 3 inches wide and 84 inches long} then just fed through my machine and it ruffled them for me.  However, you could just hold on to the bottom thread while you ruffled the material yourself if your machine won't do it for you.  This is what I had after that...
Now my ruffles just needed to be attached to the larger piece of fabric.
And just keeping adding your ruffles depending on how full you want your finished product to be.

After all the ruffling the only thing left to do is attach it to your curtain.
 This is what I ended up with.  I am really happy with how it turned out and had enough fabric that I also made two panels with this ruffled trim on bottom for their bathroom window.  Trust me, if I can do this project anyone can do it.  This is my second sewing project and I've found that I'm kinda addicted to sewing!  Ha!
One thing I might do differently, is hem the sides of my fabric before I ruffled it.  Luckily, mine isn't fraying badly at all so I got lucky on this one.  Anyway, this was my project for the weekend!  Happy Friday Ya'll!

That was super cute girl. Thanks for sharing something so simple, yet so very important. I hate short shower curtains too, he he.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, and baking. In fact my mother and I have been making cakes for over 30 years. I also love gardening, traveling, and all things crafty. I struggle daily to keep my like organized, along with my never ending battle to keep the house clean. I adore my three kids MOST of the time, and can usually be found doing the mom thing from morning till night. I try to catch a few mommy moments, but those are hard to find in this wonderful life of mine. I am blessed and happy, and am thrilled you stopped by today :)
